This site deals with desktop programming with Delphi (Delphi 2009) and Web programming with HTML, PHP and Javascript.

For me, programming has alway been a side issue. As a research scientist, I used several forms of programming languages but I used them as supporting tools. Now that I have retired, I have taken application and Web programming as a hobby.

First, I followed various courses in computer sciences that introduced me to the Delphi programming environment and, after some time, to Web programming with HTML, PHP and Javascript. I have since developed a number of programs and components with Delphi. By the same token, I have developed this Web site.

This part of the site deals with programming in general with emphasis on Delphi programming as well as Web and Clipper programming.

My Delphi Site

This part of my Web site is dedicated to articles dealing with Delphi, a programming environment that I have used since I purchased Delphi 3 in 1998. Since then, I have used subsequent versions and now Delphi 2009. I have done some work on automation,  COM Addins and on component development. Come and see my Delphi site for more details.

A clone of the Windows Explorer with check boxes

This site presents two components that work in association to display a clone of the Windows Explorer with check boxes. It allows the user to select files either by groups (directories) or individually and input this list of files to a backup program. Check my article entitled Enumerating files with Explorer-like components.

Web programming

When I initiated this Web site some years ago, I was a Web illiterate. I think that I have made progress and I put some notes in this folder. As a matter of fact, this Web site consists of several pages wrapped in a PHP shell. Design and content are clearly separated using cascading style sheets so that articles are written in a standard HTML environment. The shell takes care of presentation and formatting. I have a collection of ancient records dating between 1900 and 1925. I have made a list of them and I have tried to document each label and each artist performing on them. Come and see what they are.

Ce site Web traite maintenant de mon deuxième hobby: regarder le monde vivre à travers les médias. Je l'intitule "Le match global".

Le 4 octobre 2011, j'ai décidé de changer le visage de la partie française de ce site. J'y parlais de programmation, je vais maintenant y jaser de la situation du monde d'aujourd'hui, un monde devenu global et virtuellement sans frontières. Pourquoi "Le match global"? Parce que j'observe à travers les médias. En d'autre termes, je suis assis dans les estrades.

J'ai l'intention d'aborder différents thèmes dans ce qui suit. Pour le moment, je n'ai développé qu'un seul thème, celui de l'environnement en me concentrant sur les changements climatiques.

Les changements climatiques

Les changements climatiques affectent notre planète de façon de plus en plus perceptible mais c'est un phénomène qui évolue lentement. Depuis environ un siècle, le climat s’est modifié et les températures se sont élevées. Les changements que subit le climat sont devenus une source d'inquiétude à l'échelle mondiale. Dans cet article, je vais décrire le comportement de la terre, son bilan énergétique, l'histoire des glaciations et des température du passé, les solutions actuelles considérées pour le combattre.

Cette partie du site est consacrée à la programmation tant pour mon utilisation de Delphi pour la programmation sous Windows que pour divers autres types de programmation ( Web, Clipper, ...).

Québec en fête en 1886

La ville de Québec a fêté son 400e anniversaire en 2008 et c'était la fête. En 1886, c'était aussi la fête à Québec pour le cardinalat de Mgr Elzéar-Alexandre Taschereau: plusieurs sites dans la ville étaient décorés et des arches y étaient érigés pour souligner l'événement. M. François Langelier était alors maire de Québec . Venez voir ici le décor de la ville à ce moment.
